Hey everyone
I had a quick question about the Phaser 7700. My company found a good deal on the printer and every review I've seen of it has been four stars, thumbs up, wonderfully good. We asked the vendor to send us some test comps of graphic projects we're working on and received them today. The prints themselves look great, but I noticed that there seems to be a disturbing tendency of "crackling" in as well as an overall waxy/heavy feel to the ink.
For example if I fold the printed paper over and then flatten it back out, there's a very visable white crease runnign along the fold as well as hairline veins of white running out from it into the fields. It's almost like the layer of ink is so heavy that when you crinkle, crackle, or bend the paper a whole crevice forms along the fold and breaks the ink apart there. Because the vendor only sent the prints on one kind of paper (it looks like a glossy photo paper), we can't tell if it's the paper or the Phaser's ink process causing the problem.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Why does it crackle so easily and is it an ink, printer, or paper issue?
Thanks!
