Phaser 740 printing problems

I have a phaser 740 and I'm having issues with printing in black. When I print an image all of the colors except black look great. But the black is bubbled and flakie. I replaced the fuser and the toner twice with no luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Oh, also the printer smells "hot". This just started, and problem with the black has been on going.
