Our Phaser 740 clunks along like a worn out steam engine. A trip to the local repair center indicates that it needs a gear kit replacement. Apparently there are several nylon gears in the lower area of the printer which become brittle after age, due to the heat. The service center wants way too much money for the repair, IMO. Anyone have an idea if I can handle this replacement myself ? I'm pretty mechanically savvy. Anyone's thoughts and/or comments are appreciated

Hi Macfleet

Try searching for a feeder assy on eBay. I have seen them for $25 when a damaged printer has been parted out. I believe that eBay SellerID camp_color had them.

No warranty, or guaranteed functionality as a subassy. But mechanical parts would be good.

Regards, Phil
