Phaser 7300DN MPT pick problems

Got a Phaser 7300DN with problems picking paper from the MPT tray. It ONLY has a problem with tabloid size paper.

Are there any reasons EXCLUDING feed rollers or bad paper which could cause it to not fully pick the paper? The printer pulls it maybe an inch, no more than two and then reports a jam.

The end user claims that while the printer was under warranty it had the same problem and a tech made some sort of "adjustment" to correct it. I find no reference in the service docs to anything that might help.

The adjustment that they are probably referring to is for the auto thickness sensor. Auto Thickness Sensor (ATS) Cal Procedure, this is done using diags and 4 sheets of Phaser 35 series transparencies fed through the MPT. If this was misadjusted this may be cause for the jams. If you have the manual it is on page 4-118.

Ok, I saw the ATS adjustment, but I didn't think it had anything to do with feeding paper. Are there any alternatives to the transparencies? I don't think I have access to them.
