A friend has asked me for help with his Phaser 6250DP printer that displays the message "CLOSE FRONT DOOR" shortly after startup. The door is already closed. The printer will not continue to boot up and allows only limited menu access. About the only thing I can determine from the menu is that the printer went into service on Aug 30, 2004 (so it's off warranty.)
The printer was quite dirty. I've cleaned it up. Perhaps there's a sensor that's dirty or damaged?
Also, I found two clips in the front cover area that were not installed properly, if, in fact, they're even part of this printer. They look like lower case n's with snap-in hooks in their feet. They're overall about 1 1/4" wide and 1 1/4" high and about 1/4" thick. The're about color of the computer case. They were poked into a couple of recesses in the front cover into which they obviously didn't fit.
If you could help me find a place to install them, I'd appreciate it. These may be related problems.
Thanks,
Rod
