Phaser 550-1 was main color laser printer and worked fine when last used about 1-1/2 - 2-1/2 years ago. Phaser 550-2 was a back up hardly ever used since purchased used. Today I decided to use Phaser 550-1 and got an error 12 message. I switched imaging unit and fuser to Phaser 550-2, not used in 3-4 +years, and got same message. Restarting did not help. I've searched through this forum and found some info regarding error 12. Cleaned the IU sensor at the back of both printers did not help. I haven't followed through on checking the cables and parts mentioned in the info yet because getting the same error message on these two printers seems like maybe this is not a typical hardware problem. Ideas anyone?

Well yeah, if one or both of the two items were the problem, of course it will show up on the 2nd unit!
Most likely it will be the imaging unit.

I switched the imaging unit between the two printers but I switched two fusers between them. I guess its safe to say the fusers are not the problem. With one imaging unit between the 2 printers, the imaging unit could be the problem except, as far as I know based on info found on this forum, the "error 12" message does not have anything to do with the imaging unit.

Any other suggestions out there as to why the same error message would appear on 2 printers when they are turned on within in 1/2 hour of each other after not having been used for at least 1-1/2 years?
