Have a 300X that has a page count of 2500 so not overworked. Have just put back into service, and there is a crease beginning on lead edge in the centre and trailing back down the page and outwards. Have tried new packs of 90 gsm lasertec paper with no difference, and have cleaned all feed rollers etc. Any ideas anybody?
Cheers PaulB

Wow here is a blast from the past. Do you get the crease when you use lighter weight paper? Also try a good grade bond paper 24lb or so. My experience tells me that there is an issue with the fuser. This is the pressure rollers that exit the media and crush the ink into the paper. Unfortunately since xerox bought that division from tektronix they no longer support the product. You can try and take the fuser apart and clean it up or try and salvage one from another unit if you can find one on ebay or such. Though you may have the same problem with another, they were not an overly high failure item but I replaced them often enough.

Thanx Marty .. yep blast from the past is right ) Your fuser idea makes sense cos I have stopped the machine in mid cycle, and the crease seems to occur during exit. Will have a go at cleaning fuser as per the manual and hope it works. Tnx agn.

No luck with the cleaning ... still there, but one thing, the crease is not as severe using thinner stock. Am guessing it's something to do with the fuser roller pressure and/or alignment. Looks like it may be time to put the old girl out to pasture if there is no available fix. Pity tho, cos print is still excellent.

Unfortunately the only fix is to replace the fuser. As I reread your post I notice that you say you put it back in service, so I guess you had it in storage for a time. As my memory still functions a bit I do recall that we would ship these things with a space to prevent teh rollers from sitting on each other and creating a flat spot. This may be the case with yours if it sat idle for a time. As it may be time to put her out to pasture she was a good printer in her prime. If you like the solid ink technology I have heard there will be a new solid ink printer from the same family that will do the tabloid size pages soon.
