Mitel SX2000, L/W 32 R1.1; NuPoint Voice Mail, 4.23G.

A dozen of our users have moved to a new location. For the next year, they want calls to their old numbers to receive an informational message giving their new number and not allowing callers to leave voice mail. Of course, I cannot tie up 12 good PLIds for a year, just to give out new numbers. I assume there has to be a way similar to how the autoattendant gives out information only messages.

I was not given any NuPoint documentation. How do I create and setup informational mail boxes on NuPoint? Can I transfer the mailboxes tied to their old numbers to the new mailboxes, or will I just create new reocrdings on the new mailboxes?

Thanks.

You can delete the existing extension and recreate the DN as a hunt group. The huntgroup has no members and routes always to voicemail. This will free up your PLIDS.

Give the Old mailboxes an FCOS of 6 (Greeting only) and record new greetings giving out the new number. This will play the greeting and hangup when completed.

Thanks for the quick reply. Back to Mitel 101 for beginners, I guess. I can understand the intent here, but am not really having any luck creating any kind of Hunt Group. I typed "loc all free dn xxxx to xxx9", picked a free DN to play with, but cannot see how to create that DN as a Hunt Group.

Would you mind walking me through re-creating that DN as a Hunt Group?

Go to the Hunt Group Assignment form, enter the DN and save. Yes it is that simple.

Go to the call rerouting assignment form, find the DN and configure it to route to VM on an always condition.

OK. I go to the HG Assign Form; I put 2251 in the Pilot Number field; Save is not an option until I "tab" to the next field. I save and it says "There are no changes for the operation." I go to the Call Rerouting Assignment Form and the number (2251) is not there. I go back to HGAF and enter 2251 and Recall. The number is there and Hunt Mode = Circular and Group Type = Voice. There is nothing else in the form.

To create "Phantom" numbers and "Greeting Only" voice mail boxes for my list of target numbers, here is what I ended up doing:

1. In the "System Configuration Form" and selecting one of our more distant cabinets with spare slots, I added a couple of DNI cards where none were physically installed.

2. In the "DNI Circuit Assignment Form" I programmed 4025 Supersets into the PLIDS of the phantom cards from Step #1.

3. I added temporary numbers into the "MultiLine Set Assignment Form" into the PLIDS of the phantom cards from Step #1.

4. I Move/Swapped all the target numbers with the temporary numbers.

5. In the "Call Rerouting Assignment Form" I set all three "Always Alternative" settings to voice mail for the target numbers.

6. In NuPoint Messenger, I set the FCOS to "Greeting Only" and Message Waiting Type #1" to 0.

7. In NuPoint Messenger, reset all passwords and set tutorial to yes for target numbers. Users had to create new messages.

So far it works OK.

My question is: What did I miss? That is, what are the "Gotchas!", if any.

Here's the easiest way to create phantom extensions for call rerouting. Say there is a multiline set in the phone room. Assign a PKM to the set in the DNI form (you don't need the physical PKM, just the keys lines for programming). Then program the phantom extension numbers on the PKM keys. Make them single line, no ring. This will put the extension number into call rerouting so you can call reroute always to the NuPoint.

I just tried your method and it is definitely easier! Works just perfectly.

There will be more staff migrations and this is how I will handle future phantom requirements.

Thanks.

If you program PKM's and keylines on active phones for this purpose I strongly recommend you document your work. Inevitably, someone will try to delete that phone and poof, nothing works anymore.
