I run with AIX 4.3.3.0 and have a problem with a particular user id. When I perform the >> who -u command I see this user and have a pts, pid, and ip associated with it. But when I perform a process status I don't see anything associated with the ID. When I try to kill the PID, I receive a message stating the PID does not exist. I don't understand why the user id is displayed from the who command but not anywhere else, and how do I get rid of it?

Any explanation or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You may have a corrupt /etc/wtmp file. You can move it and replace with an empty one if you use the statistics from it, otherwise just zero (>) it.
