I have XP home installed with a Canon printer. Every time I boot up, XP "finds" a new printer. If I try to install it, it can't. How can I stop the computer from finding this phantom printer?

after you boot up is there a "bubble" icon the task bar...trying to get your attention...if so this is the computer telling you there was a prob installing your device....you can right click on this and tell it to not try to install any more....hope this helps..
