I have a user that OCCASSIONALLY has INTERNAL calls answered handsfree on her Avaya phone. I have switched from a 6408+ model to a 5410 model, and it does not matter.

Not every time, but on occassion, she has internal only calls answered without ringing. All at once somebody else within the office just starts speaking via speakerphone. I do not see any setting on the IP Office Manager server, and nothing appears activated on her phone. On other phone systems, I have seen a handsfree button on the actual phone, but I do not see one on either of the referrenced models.

What makes it more difficult to pin down, is that it doesn't happen on every internal call. Only occassionally. Anybody heard of this weird issue? Thanks

6408 has a HFAI option in the menu, press menu and you will see HFAns and if the checkmark is over top then press it and it is disabled.

Maybe she gets the occasional calls directly and most calls are going to a group and are not recognized as internal calls by the IPO.
Not that I think that is the problem really as it doesn't make much sense but it is worth a shot and maybe the setting has been activated with the 6408 and the 5410 just does it intermittently.

They are not using Phone Manager, nor is there anything in shortcodes.

Within MENU / Options on the phone, I see three rows saying HANDSET AGC, HEADSET AGC, and SPEAKER AGC. All three are YES. Would it be any of these? My own phone has all of these as YES, and I do not have the issue.

No those would not cause the issue. do you have any short codes with dial direct or dial intercom?

Look in the user short codes on the people that have the Hands free issue you should see something that starts with DCP 0.0.1 I think.. Just deleted it... Did you upgrade recently?

my guess would be that it might have been enabled with the 6408 phone and then the phone has been replaced but the setting has stayed in the port programming. The message light stays when you change the name and there are messages in the mailbox so I guess it could be the same way.
Get the 6408 ack in and hit the menu button and see if the HFAns is checked.

Just delete the user and recreate the user again.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

There is a setting on the phone:
Press Features, scroll to call setting, then scroll to internal auto answer and make sure it is off.

I had this at a customer and it drove me scatty for weeks because you cannot see this setting on a system level, can only be done on the phone.

Hope this helps

Ok, let me say again that there is nothing out of the ordinary in the user's ShortCodes.

BrightTech........Not sure what phone model you are referring to, but the Avaya 5410 does not have a "Features" button, nor is that in the Options.

As suggested, I think I will set back up the original 6408 model and see if something was enabled on that.

Thanks everyone. Will get back to you.

I fixed it. Westi was correct, in that the original 6408 model had accidently gotten Handsfee answer turned on, and it was keeping it in the line. Hooked it back up and turned that option off. Thanks all.

Well that was worth absolutly no stars from you.
Westi.. you suck.. :)

Yep. 25 threads started and one star given. No stars from mlc9. Here is a star for you Westi. Nice tshooting Tex!

Thanks CarGoSki
sometimes it pays to suspect the IPO of being weird

Guys, I had no idea what this star stuff was, but just figured it out and gave one to Westi.

Not sure if I was being ripped, but if so, just politely explain it to me next time and I'll be happy to oblige.

most people just assume that you know what it meas to give stars and how to do it because we are here more than at home really. Take it under constructive criticism gone wild.
People get touchy when they don't get stars because the amount of stars is just like how good your knowledge on the IPO is and how willing you are to share it with others.
For future if you think it is worth a thank you then give a star along with it and you will bring a smile to a overworked face. :)

....and you may want to try to give Westi that star again since the star he has in this thread is from me.

You have to click on the
Thank whomever for this valuable post
and then confirm it in the popup if you want to do that

Not that I want eagerly get more stars but just to explain that there should be a popup.

Thanks CarGoSki I didn't even click in that it didn't work, seems it is time for the weekend so I can rest for the next stressful week.
