I have a customer that keeps getting phantom calls, when they pickup no one is there.

They happen randomly every couple of days or so, sometimes 2 or 3 calls in a day.

This an IPO 8.1, VMPRO, Alog Trunks. I recently replaced a 406V2 and it never happened on that as far as I know.

All calls route to the AutoAttendant, I assume the calls timeout in the AA and then ring the Main HG.

Phone manager shows the calls is from ?? but there is no, "No Caller ID" alarm on any trunk like I would expect there to be.

Not quite sure where to start to trouble-shoot this...

make sure the line provider is not providing voicemail on those lines, could be the message waiting notification alert causing these issues

This is most likely message waiting notification from the provider causing this which is why there is no caller id sent. For some reason, older hardware was not as sensitive to this (which is why you did not have an issue wit the 406), but the newer stuff is. Have them take the message notification off.

well then two of us are in agreement!

I am having this same exact issue at our office. No caller id and it just keeps ringing and ringing. If the call is answered it is a very loud busy tone. When we hang up the phone it loops back into the system and same thing if I disconnect it through system status. I called the provider and they said that voicemail is not on those lines.

This has been mentioned a few times, even when VM is off their equipment keeps sending the pulses, the other folks had a hell of a time proving and resolving this IIRC though :)

Son of a... That's not what I wanted to hear. Any idea how it was fixed up?

I had the same problem once and thought it was an issue with VM on the line but it turned out to be a combo card. If you have a combo card try a different one or move to a different trunk port.
