Pervasive v8.6 netware some clients slow

Has anyone run into this? We updated from Pervasive 2000i to V8.6 last night on a Netware 6 for Small Business server.

Some Win 98 and XP workstations are verrrrrrrrrrrry slo

when accessing this accounting application and I noticed - after trying other things - it seems the slow ones are using the Microsoft client for Netware.

Before we start changing clients - the Microsoft client is used because other software on those stations recommends it instead of the Novell client - I thought I'd ask the brain trust!

Is it slow all the time or just during the initial connect? Also, is it slow using the Pervasive tools (Function Executor, PCC, etc)?
Are these machines connection to Pervasive using TCP/IP or SPX? How about the "non-slow" machines?

You need to use the Novell 32 bit client on both Win 98 SE and XP SP2 machines if you want to use Pervasive.SQL v8.6. I had to try something to get these systems working and changing to the Novell client for Netware solved the problem.
