Pervasive SQL 2000i SP4

Is there a way to stop a user with crystal reports from writing a report against certain tables? In this case the client is OK with the person writing Inventoy reports, but does not what the person in GL or AP files.

Use SQL security and grant the user select rights only on the tables you want them to be able to read.

I use network security for win2000/2003 or netware to deny access to the tables they shouldn't query. Right click on the folder on the server console itself, go to the individual btr tables & check under security/advanced. Be sure you have at least 2 groups: one who is allowed for permissions, one who is not. In win2k, this must be done at the NTFS & the share permissions level both, otherwise you can completely deny access to everyone. Remove the group with no permissions to AP/GL (I assume they don't have permissions for these modules in the accounting system, either?) & the everyone group, leaving only the users who expicitly have permissions. Log on to the network as that user & open report writer. You will see the tables in the list, but if you try to open them, you will get an access denied message. In netware, this function is performed in netadm32.
