Perspective Question - plz help quick

How do you change perspective of text in Illustrator CS? I tried using the free transform tool, (holding alt shift ctrl) the program shows the bounding box changing shape...but never actually changes it - this doesnt work for text, or objects - what am i doing wrong - thanks

start the click and drag on one corner, then after your dragging, hold down the appropriate modifiers.
