I am not able open a personal (.pst) file which apparently is password protected.
No, obviously I haven't forgotten the password

....... it's just that for some reason, at this particular moment in time, I'm not able to supply the appropriate string of characters to open this file!

My system adminstrator is unable to help and I'm hoping to get some help and advice from forum members about recovery of passwords for .pst files? Is there any way I can remove or retrieve the password to allow me access to this file?

JazzGeek's quote (see below) has given me some hope that it can be done.
So is there anyone out there able to help me retrieve
my 'lost tyres' ........... please?

' I've had about 40 users so far who decided to password protect their .PST files, and then forget their password!! They come to me with a puppy dog look, and I say, "ok, it can be found." After spending countless time running a utility program to extract their password, I realize that .PST files, like old tires, are almost completely worthless'

There is 3rd party software you can purchase online that will crack the passwords or....if you give me your email I can send you a microsft pst upgrade. It will strip the password. That's how we got into someone else's pst that left our company. You MUST follow the directions exactly or it will not work. -Brad

Hi bradSQLguy I was wondering could you send me an email about that .pst upgrade. I foolishly have forgotten a password to an earlier .pst archive I made and would really appreciate getting at my information without having drudge trough 3rd party software that might take up to 9 weeks to crack the password.
