How would I set up my filters so any incoming mail to my inbox will go to the correct box in my personal folders? Mike Wills

Have you visited the Rules Wizard yet?

The navagation is:

Tools
Rules Wizard
etc.

If you bump into any snags let us know.

Yes, that is what I am asking. How do I set these up so this will work. So far I have been unsuccessful on getting it to work. Mike Wills

Here is a starter

Tools
Rules Wizard
Click New
"Pick which type of rule to create"
ex., pick the box [Check msgs when they arrive]
Click next

"Pick Conditions"
ex., pick the box [With specific words in subject]
In the Rules description box click "specific words"
and enter the words you expect to see in the subject
like maybe Tek-Tips Forem
Click next

"Pick what you want to do with the message"
ex., pick the box [Move to a specified folder]
Click next

In the Rule description box click the word "specified" and select the folder you wish the message to be placed in.

Click OK
Click Finish

Note: If you have more than one rule you can pick the order the rules apply.

good luck

That is how I have them set. I will try it again but I don't think it works. I think part of the problem is that these are client side filters, not server side. Is my thinking correct?

By the way, I am using Outlook 2k with an Exchange server. I realized I didn't specify this before. Mike Wills

There is a problem with OL2K in that you cannot send anything client side to a .pst folder. I am having a similar problem, but trying to send from one public folder to another. You have to actually get on the server and do some coding in order for it to work.

I did a work around, the folders that I have the filters on are on the exchage server. My filters are set up to those folders. Then if there are messages that I want to save, I put those in the personal folder. These are high traffic email lists, otherwise, I would have never worried about it. Mike Wills

In tools -> services -> delivery tab, have you tried setting delivery to a personnal folder

Then checking the mail when it arrives with "???" in the subject header and "move to specified folder"

But then I can't check my mail remotely. I occasionally dial in to the network and check my mail, and if I have it set up to go to personal folders, I can't check my email. We also have a web interface which I hear from a co-worker that it doesn't work then also. Mike Wills
