windows says its malware. and i cant get rid of it. i have tried all my antispyware programs.
any suggestions?

and to does anyone know of a good keystroke tracking program that is free and does not have any spyware attached to it?
thanks.

i have tried all my antispyware programs.
So, did you write your very own programs? If not, please tell us what they are. [wink]

and to does anyone know of a good keystroke tracking program that is free and does not have any spyware attached to it?
One source you could try is - I've not looked for that particular type, but they have all sorts of programs listed there which aren't always available elsewhere. Also, - but don't just depend upon those sites for verifying an app is clean. I'd especially do some extra research on that sort of program.

Otherwise, I can make some suggestions on getting rid of your virus, but we've no idea what you've tried. I'll just toss a few out there, and hopefully they're new to you. [smile]

I'd try these, at least:
[UL][LI]SuperAntispyware[/LI]
[LI]Malwarebytes Antimalware[/LI]
[LI]DrWeb CureIt[/LI]
[LI]Mwave - it's not free, but it can be used to scan for free, and then you can manually remove. Just be extremely careful if it points out something in your registry[/LI]
[LI]If you have Windows XP, download and install Windows Defender from or or another file download site if you've not done so already.[/LI]
[/ul]

Any of the above apps can be downloaded at
A few others that might help are CCleaner, IOBit Advanced System Care, and Glary Utilities.

You may need to run some of them in Safe Mode as well..

Also, you could try a free online scan, such as

i tried ccleaner.
smart defrag.
my charter cable company virus and spyware cleaner
and one spyware cleaner on my yahoo toolbar on the firefox browser.
i will try more tonight. i am not sure where its hiding. as it is not showing up in my add/remove programs. and when i type a key word. it is not showing up. only a shortcut did and i deleted it.

only a shortcut did and i deleted it
If you had right clicked on the shortcut and selected properties you would have been able to find the location of the executable for the virus.

I'd run Malwarebytes Antimalware first. Run it in safe mode with networking, delete everything that it finds, and then reboot and run it again in normal mode.

Hope this helps.

I can only concur with my fellow members here, in that running MBAM...

This is just a variant of the infamous AntiVirus 2007 (2008, 2009, etc.)... and MBAM should clean it out...

now to clear up a misconception on your part:

CCleaner and SmartDefrag are not ANTI MALWARE softwares!

usually ISP packaged AntiViral solutions are not up to par these days...

dito with the SpyWare Cleaner from Yahoo!

I suggest that you also DL HiJackThis from the Trend Micro Website, run it with LOG option, then paste the LOG here for our perusal, and we will tell you what to clean out...

Follow above instructions (I'd run Malwarebytes Antimalware first.) and you will be cured. Personal Antivirus is not a tough one to remove.

Same as others have stated, somewhat. But for details on your list:

ccleaner - Good to use, but isn't a malware/spyware scanner - it will remove some things just by how it works.

smart defrag - I can't see how a Defrag program could possibly help with any sort of malware/spyware. It's a good program, but does nothing for infections - it's good for other reasons.

charter cable company virus and spyware cleaner - I highly suggest you get rid of this as soon as you've gotten your system clean. You're better off with AVG, Avast, or Antivir ANY DAY, and they are all free.. well, they have paid versions, but home users only need the free one.

spyware cleaner .. yahoo toolbar .. firefox browser - I'd just get rid of this as well, my opinion. I'd not have the Yahoo toolbar. I'm not saying it's bad directly, but just seems wasteful and useless. If I were to use a toolbar, I'd use the Google toolbar, but I haven't even been using that one for some time now.

So yeah, as suggested above, you can do:
[ol][li]Run MBAM in safe mode, then normal Windows startup.[/li]
[li]Get Hijack This and post a log file here[/li]
[li]Clear out what suggested here after log is posted[/li]
[li]THEN I'd go ahead and remove your Charter security suite...[/li]
[li]Download and install AVG (my personal favorite, still), Avast, or Antivir for Antivirus[/li]
[li]Make sure you have a router, not just a cable modem - in case you've not already done so.[/li]
[li]Install a good free software firewall - I personally recommend Online Armor, first choice. Others will like Comodo - but Comodo was too much of a headache when I tried it last (probably over 1 or 2 years ago).[/li]
[li]Install Windows Defender - it's pretty much invisible unless you have a problem, or unless it didn't get its updates for some reason.[/li]
[li]Install SpywareBlaster - good protection from malware/spyware in verifying your system settings, and you do not have to run it constantly - just once in a while to check settings, look for updates.[/li]
[li]SuperAntispyware is also a good app. It often will remove about the same things as MBAM, but of course, none of the apps are 100% by themselves.[/li]
[li]Make sure your copy of Windows is up to date, particularly with security updates and service packs.[/li]
[li]Wouldn't hurt to download and install Glary Utilities and IOBit Advanced System Care, and run their scans.[/li]
[li]After all else done, run your SmartDefrag to tidy things up - I've been primarily using "fast optimize" settings - this doesn't help with the Malware, but after all the other changes, a good defrag would be helpful in basic operations.[/li][/ol]

Some links:
You can get all or most of the apps listed above from
You can find good prices on good routers at different places, but for brand new, current, equipment, at the usually the best or close to the best prices and pretty much the best customer support:
I linked to the Wireless Routers section, b/c I figure why not - the wireless routers, currently, seem to have the best features included for the about the same price as the wired versions. You've also got more choice. Just turn off the wireless ability if you don't plan to use it... AND if you decide to get a laptop or use wireless for any other reason in the future, you will only have to enable wireless, instead of having to go out and pick up a new router.

That's really going a bit far, but I figured with what I've seen so far, you might could use a little more advice than just immediate malware concerns.

thanks for a the replies. especially KJV1611.

the super antispyware program was the one that worked and it was free.

I can confirm a quick download of superantispyware and jobs a good one. i ran it twice with a reboot inbetween as it still picked up bits on the second scan.

The Cloud AV idea does sound interesting, particularly for slower(old) PCs. However, from the sounds of it, a lot of people have reported it being buggy, and at least one user said it didn't find any out of 70+ viruses on his computer after a test run.

So I got the personal antivirus virus yesterday; had my pc disconnected and was ready to take it to my PC guy when I read the post from kjv1611. Downloaded anti superspyware from download.com per your suggestion onto a flash drive using a different pc of course), reconnected my computer and ran the program - worked perfectly. Thanks for the excellent advice!!
