I have several applications that users get to through 6i forms... the users complain all the time about having to logon every time they change applications. Is there anyway to design forms so that logon can be persistent across multiple forms? The applications are all on the same database so the users only have one userid and password that is consistent for all their applications.

Of course, you may create some root form with simple menu, calling all other forms (use CALL_FORM or OPEN_FORM). In this case user should log on only once.

I used to do it that way, but Ive been migrating more and more to web based interfaces and had planned to use a simple web page as the "master" form... i thought it would get users into their applications faster than waiting for a form to come up just to get to the form they really wanted...

thanks

I suppose that you approach can not speed it up, because each time user need a new form, Forms server launches a new process(or at least keeps it from a pool) and creates a new connection to database. This is not an issue when you have several users, though performance degrades drastically as a number of users grows.

I guess the perception of speed was the best I could hope for.. users complain about the time it takes for the oracle forms to display after they click on it.. using a web page to display buttons to open the various forms makes the user think they are getting into their applications faster because the web page displays very fast..<G>

You may point all links to the same root form. Or use this menu for all forms.

thanks, that might just be good enough...
