Perplexing Parameter Prompt Problems 2

Hello,

I am new to Crystal but have a programming background, we are running Crystal XI (11.0.0.1883 - I guess this is R1?).

I have created a report which prompts for a static date parameter (although this happens for any type of parameter). I have linked the parameter up using the record select expert. When I refresh the report data, I see the prompt to Enter Values where I should be able to type in or choose the parameter value.

However, although I can type into the box the OK, Cancel and date selection controls do not do anything (i.e. the prompt window remains open). All I can do is close the prompt with the 'X' in the top right of the window, which subsequently means no parameters get passed to my report.

If I change it to use a dynamic parameter, then it pre-populates the drop-down list and I can choose an option, but still the OK and cancel buttons do nothing.

The database I am using is not particularly relevant as I can reproduce this problem with the Xtreme sample database. This problem happens in the Crystal development environment, rather than any kind of published environment.

I have a suspicion that this may be a security issue with whatever controls the prompt window (Java?) as the machine (the only one I can use) is quite heavily locked down.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I have written a working report against my real database, but am stuck at what should be one of the easiest stages!

Many thanks,

Robin

Just the ticket, thank you very much!

Although I can see how IE changes system-wide settings, I'd never have dreamed of firing it up to fix a Crystal problem.

It happens with the Start > Run dialog as well - if you enable 'Inline Autocomplete' in IE, it affects that too. Crazy...

Glad it fixed the problem for you.

The parameter dialog, starting with XI, is rendered in a browser window.

Ah, I see. The Crystal 'document' icon on the window threw me on that one - the calendar popup has an IE icon, but of course I hadn't seen it at that point!

Thanks again, now I can sleep peacefully.

Now this I didn't know, nice Tip Ido
