Is there a way to limit the access to redo-log tables for a specific user?

Currently I have an issue where the user is able to see updates to one table, but not the rest of the tables in the schema being archived.

For now, the only reasons I can think of are that you can limit the access to specific table updates in the redo-log, or the one table I am accessing is in a seperate table space then what the tables I need are located in.

Thanks!

Are you sure you know what redo logs are? [3eyes]

Or is it you are referring to some application tables using that moniker?

I have an application that pulls updates from the archive log, but when possible (when it is not behind), it pulls the update from the redo log rather then waiting for the update to be archived.

I am no DB expert, and trying to determine why a specific user does not have access to the archiving of specific tables. I thought once access to archiving was enabled, then you could see all updates made, but that is not what I am seeing.

What am I missing?

Sorry, I should not have stated redo-log table (typo) in my hurry.

You question is still not clear, you are mixing two concepts: "updates from the archive and redo logs" with "archiving of specific tables".

Among other things, archive and redo logs record changes to data and are managed by the Oracle instance. In order to 'see' these changes you need to use either the logminer utility and/or set (enable) 'auditing' on the tables you wish to watch.

Archiving of specific tables is otherwise done by some utility and/or user application. What do you mean by "access to archiving was enabled"? [ponder]

Sorry for the short description. Yes I was using the logmnr.

I have resolved the issue. I did not have the grant execute on dbms_logmnr set for the user.

Thanks!

If you are working with 10g and want to allow users to view Updates that occurred on tables, why not use Flashback Query
Of course I may be misunderstanding what it is that you are trying to do.
