Alright guys I got a brain teaser. I have two servers using DFS to replicate a folder named "Data"

On Server1 the permissions work great I can copy paste rename new folders etc... everything.

But when I switch the DFS target to Server2 everything is read only and I can't do anything but view.

I have checked the permissions on the Drive and on the Folder on the Server2. I have also checked the rights in Active Directory.

They are identical to the Server1, however it's not working.

So basically the permissions are set the same in the following areas:

Data Folder on Server2
Data Drive on Server2
Server2 Computer Security in Active Directory
T: Drive Security (Mapped Drive)

So all those are set to the same as Server1 but no bueno.

The Permissions are as follows:
Administrators - All
Authenticated Users - All
System - All
TQI_Users - All (that's all the companies Users)
Users - All

Owner on both Server1 and Server2 is Administrator

I have Allow Inheritable set, and when I set it all upp I replaced the settings for all the folders.

Any Ideas? Or where should I start? :)

I can create Files and Folders Locally, but not on any computer that's not local.

Also, I have tried going to the Actual Drive via the network and it is denied too, so it's not a DFS setting it doesn't seem like.

So update:

Can create stuff locally
Can't create via DFS or via Networked Direct Drive

I just logged in with the Administrator account and it still says Denied.

So even the Administrator doesn't have access via Network.

Have you checked to make sure that the 'share' permissions are not read only that is how they are created by default.

how do I check the share permissions?

Probably a stupid questions but Im a newby to Active Directory and DFS.

Nailed it, now I can go set individual permissions.

Thanks!
