Hi,
I just have a new Win2003 std R2 server. I map a share drive with other server in the same network. I logon to administrator. When I try to run a file or program in the share drive, I got this error message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." If I copy the program to the local drive, I can install it.

Please help me to fix this problem! I need to run a program from share drive.

Many thanks in advance!

Can you be more specific? Is this a domain environment? Are the two servers on the same subnet? Is there a firewall present?

Hi Ncolsgk,
Yes, it is a domain enviroment. Two server are on the same subnet. If I connect with XP pro, I don't have any problem. I can map the drive and install anything.

Thanks again!

Sounds like a permissions issue. Check to make sure you mapped the drive correctly and the Admin actually has rights to it.

Yes, permission problem.

If I logon local administrator account, I don't have problem.

I have problem when I logon domain administrator account.

Do you know how to give domain administrator account a permission to install program from share drive?

I did add domain administrator account to local administrator group.

Thanks!
