I am looking to setup a fairly permanent VPN connection between two sites. The purpose is to share an application and allow IP phones.

At HQ we have a 2mb leased line connecting to internet (20 users).

At remote we have a 2mb SDSL line connecting to internet (4 users).

I propose to use a Draytek VPN routers at each site and configure a VPN to VPN routing between sites. I have previously used such a connection over 2 ADSL's for a single remote user and it worked well.

Any comments on reliability, choice of hardware, 'real world' expereince.

Thanks...

I would also look at teh Kentrox solutions. The Q Series will provide QoS ove rthe VPN tunnel. I know that QoS can't be controlled over the internet but some is better than none. In your case, if the leased line has an ethernet handoff you would use two Q2300 series. If the leased line is an actual T1 handoff, then use one Q2300 and one Q2200. We have had a lot of success with these routers.

I would use a simple shared key IPSEC VPN with Cisco 1721 K9's

Easy, i could even give you a complete working config, because it's what i use in a similar setup.

Could I do the same thing with either a CISCO 1604 or 1700 series router?

If not I am looking at buying a LinkSys RV082 VPN Router. I have a CISCO 3005 VPN Concentrator at our main office.

Thanks

Robert
