I'm doing some reconfiguration of a switch stack consisting of a 5520 and two 5510 switches. I would like to remove one of the switches permanently (ie, it won't be replaced). Do I need to reset the stack back to factory defaults to get them to forget about this switch?

If you want to erase all mention of the previous switch then the ask would be yes, you'll need to factory reset the stack.

You could though just renumber the stack and it would continue to function with whatever configuration you had on it.

Cheers!
