Please excuse me if this is a stupid question!

In short what I need to achieve is a permanent redirect of all calls on a line to an external number. I think I can accomplish this through line redirect. I also believe I could use Call Pilot and a CCR tree if I wanted to play a greeting before the redirect. However the problem is I want these calls to be redirected to the external number so that the original caller is paying for the call and not us.

I'm assuming if we answer the call and then forward it, we pay for the redirect, is this correct?

If so, can anyone think of a way round this problem?

Thanks,

David

I don't belive this can be done, as you could be forwarding to a premium rate or international number which the caller would then be charged for even though they may have only dialled a local number. This would be very unfair on callers.

I believe line redirect uses your trunk to dial out to the external number. Which in turn ties up two of your trunks. one for the inbound call and one to dial out to your external number.

Redirect, the Phone system pays
Forward, the original caller pays

At one time I think forward had the KSU pay but this was like toll fraud.

To be honest if I was mislead to dial one number then get a bill for long distance.....I would get a bulldozer and crush your business.
Thats what a customer threatend to do to us one lol.

Make sure the caller is aware that they will be charged.

Drop the caller into an info mailbox that states something like "this number has been changed, please hang up and dial xxx-xxx-xxxx" No very professional, but your customer will not be billed.
