I need a perl script that can search access logs for the frequency of a requested file and displays the results in html.

I am looking to put it on my webserver so that I can type the name of the file into a text field, click "submit" and have the number of page requests come back to me.

It would also be handy to have "search between 'this date' and 'this date'" options.

Does such a perl script exist?

Thanks,

Paul

Sounds easy to write, Do you know perl? Are your access logs always in one file?

Sorry I don't "know" Perl, but I'm capable of using Perl scripts I pull from websites, if you know what I mean.

Yes, my weblogs are always in var/log/httpd and are rotated weekly on a redhat box.

Is it really that easy to write? Just something really simple like "enter word to search for here" - then a text field - then when you hit "submit" it simply searches a server-side text file for the frequency of some words - Then I'll mod it to my own requirements.

(If anyone would like to spend 10 minutes or so knocking this out for me, and they live near Southampton I'll take them out for 10 pints and a curry!)

Thanks guys,
