I am trying to run Perl in my Front Page Web. I can not get it to run the programing. I get error messages which all appear to direct toward permissions.

YES I HAVE: Front Page Extentions, CGI-Bin, Perl5 installed on the server.
I have edited the vti_txtextensions to: "vti_textextensions:SX|.*.txt.bas.c.h.pl.cgi."

I am using a UNIX Platform..

My Form seems to be functioning ok but it will not let it write to the ".pl" file I need it to.

MY QUESTIONS:
How do you set directory (folder) and Page (File) Permissions in Front Page?

How do I change the CHMOD to 777 (or equivellant to)with Front Page?

Where do I create a New Folder (directory) to insure it be uploaded to my "Basepath".

Any Help to any or all of my questions will be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU
Dave

On my Front Page 2000, Security is under Tools BUT there are also permissions on my ISP's Win 2000 server For EXECUTE i.e. Script /EXE that must be set on each directory using the ADMIN/Application Settings function. I don't know about UNIX.

Dave,

We run hundreds of perl scripts on sites that are designed in FrontPage. It is possible to integrate them but we've found over the last few years that it's not worth the effort. What we do is keep the scripts separate from FP and use an FTP client to deal with the scripts. (We also FTP most of our other pages but on a few sites we publish with FP but keep the directories that contain pages for scripts separate.)

Using FTP it's much easier to get the paths and permissions right which is where most mistakes with perl scripts come from.

I can give you any other specifics you need if you want to contact me. I might even have the script you're trying to set up.
