Peripherals Device reading Control

Hey,

We have an application build in VB 6.0. It works but for reason of maintenance, "the end of VB", easy development, performance we like to transfer this to ms access 2007.

One of the issues is : the application reads data from peripherals (machines, furnace, ...). This can be done in VB with visual basic code that read via Controls Com ports.

The question is, can we do the same within ms access ?
If yes, are these modules predefined available as add-ons or something like that ?

I did a google search for "vba to read com port" and found this.

You might also be able to reference the comm control (never tried it)
