Period to Date Formula

Hi,

I need a formula for Period to Date.

How to write this formula?

Dev,

Please clarify as to what the data field looks like for "Period". Number, text, date, etc and an example of data found within.

For Example, the data could look like:
1) "2010-Q1" (which would also need clarification as to where Q1 falls on your company's fiscal calendar)
2) "Week 1" (again, where is "Week 1")
3) "Month 7" (would likely be July, but again could shift based on company)
4) 2010-08-01 to 2010-08-15
