Performance tuning IIS 5.0 ?

Our Intranet is housed on a Dell server with 1GB Ram and 1Ghz Processors * 2. The content is ASP pages that call COM to do some pretty processor intensive ADO recordset manipulation for reporting.

Has anyone any experience (or links to info on)configuring an IIS 5 server to maximise the performance of web apps?

Also we have noticed that sometimes the processors max out when nobody is logged in for about 5 mins and then level off.
