We have just bought our Graphic Designer a new P4 3.0Ghz with a Gig of DDRII 667 Ram. She has a 128MB GeForce 6600LE screencard.

Corel X3 is still slow. Especially when she has a few files open.

Would upgrading this computer to 2Gb's of RAM help much?
I have increased her workspace memory settings to 50% of RAM, and increased the virtual memory of her PC.

Anything else I can do? Also, why is Corel X3 so slow when it comes to moving large graphics around on the page?

She is working at 300 dpi for print.

You are running a similar set up to me and X3 is plenty quick enough here, that said I am working with vector graphics most of the time. If you are working bitmaps all of the time things may slow I suppose - try a different viewing mode ie change from 'enhanced with overprints' to normal view also when in the colour management set up change cmyk to rgb, see if that helps.

1. Try to setup Corel to use mutch more memory like 50% - 75%
Tools\Options\Workspace\Memory - MemoryUsage
2. Make a swap partition! (For windows)
3. Scann your System for any Viruses,Spyware or Trojans
4. Download a Registry Repair Program and fix your registry
5. Be shure that you have on C:\ at least 2G of space
6. Defragment your working partitions
7. See if in BIOS you have Shadowing of video memory and Bios Shadowing activated.

If your System is still slow you may have a Hardware conflict.

I hope this helps!

I am a Corel Fan!atic. (NAH)
