Performance Logs and Alerts Won't Run

I'm at my wits end - for some reason our Small Business Server 2003 will not post Performance or Usage Reports when accessed through the Monitoring and Reporting under Server Management. I get a 'Loading...." page that never ends.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Performance twice - to no avail. Under Services, both SQLAgent$SBSMONITORING and MSSQL$SBSMONITORING are running. For MSSQL$SBSMONITORING, under the LogOn tab, it is selected to Local System Account. The Hardware Profile is enabled using 'Profile 1'. I'm not sure the details of this profile or how to determine the details.

However, each day I receive an email report containing Performance (daily) and Usage (two weeks) statistics. The Server Performance Report always lists 'Performance Logs and Alerts' as an auto-service not running. It states, "In normal conditions, these services should be running. For details, it is recommended that you review errors in the Event Log related to the service".

I have reviewed the event logs, but cannot find the smoking gun.

So evidently I can receive email reports, but if I want to access these reports directly under Server Management, I cannot.

Any ideas?
