Hey All,

Wondering if someone would have suggestions on the issues I am facing with my DL320.

Its setup as a File&Printe server with an Adaptec Raid1.

The performance of the system appears to be quite bad at times, when exploring the file system, that server will lock up for up to 20 seconds and then come good.

e.g.

If I am exploring the file system, I will drill down 5-10 folders, and then hit the up button to go back up directories, sometimes it will lock up here & not respond, but then come good after 10-20seconds.

These problems occur on the console & on client machines connected.

So far have tried to reboot & defrag but with no performance gains.

any ideas of how I can narrow the problem down?

Woops - that would be a good idea.

Windows 2003 Server Standard SP2.

Looks like the Avg Disk Queue is very high and getting hammered, tho the I/O 'looks' ok.

Would anyone have suggestions to fix, Im thinking Harddisk or Disk controller problems?

I have an identical server with more load on it and the Avg Disk Queue is much less.

Runing RAID1 with 2x750GB 7.2k drives.

spoke with HP who have no idea.

cheers all.

Firstly, the best thing to do in my opinion is to ensure you are running the latest drivers and firmware. This is what HP should be suggesting to you. Even if you download the latest RAID drivers and firmware only, it might be a good place to start.

As always, ensure you have a decent backup prior to starting...
