Hi,

I have a report developed in Cognos and the report is designed well but its taking longer time than expected. What are the areas I need to check at the framework manager level when I encounter a performance problem and what am I supposed to check at the database level? Can anyone please point in a right direction?

Thanks,
DS

Try to coordinate running a trace on the database by asking a friendly DBA. If the SQL is neat and sweet according to his judgement, then you should try to evaluate what is processed at the server. Sorting and post-aggregate filters are dealt with by the Cognos server. Ranking ditto. Conditional formatting too.
Real performance killers are dataitems that refer to other dataitems cascade-wise.
