Hai,
I have created a view which performs various joins with 10 tables. How can I test the view for cartesian product and how can i analyze the performance of the view. Is Explain Plan the only way or are there any other ways to do it.
Thanks,
Double H

The view has to optimized with 10 tables. Explain plan, Tkprof, Set Autotrace On as well as various third party products can help. Bottom line is that an Explain Plan (or Execution Plan) needs to be generated. TOAD (Tool for Oracle Application Development) or Oracle Enterprise Manager greatly simplify the optimization process. TOAD (now owned by Quest) does have a freeware version which, I believe, has the Explain Plan as part of its core product. See to get a download. Well worth the effort. More automatic solution exist by Leccotech (DBExpert) and Quest(Sql Expert). Nice, but pricy.
