I have a report for which I need to debug for performance. This report is processed on the server and there are a few sql expression fields used in the report.

Now in the Report->Performance Information box, I see that the value for 'Run Database Query' is 72786 ms. Now if I run the SQL from Database -> Show SQL it takes only 19
seconds to run in the database. Why is this disparity?

Your post doesn't make sense to me.

The Database->Show SQL Query isn't editable in CR 10, so what does "if I run the SQL from Database -> Show SQL it takes only 19 seconds" mean?

You can use the Add Command to paste in real SQL, and anything in a SQL Expression is passed to the database, which you can verify by using Database->Show SQL Query.

There can be all sorts of reasons for the disparity.

The second time you run the report, the DB server might already have the cached data in memory, so will be faster.

Other users of the database will also change the results, depending on what they are doing.

Only in a controlled test environment where you reset all the machines and only run the test application can you get comparable figures. And then a windows process might screw up your figures.
