How do I make the width of an image the same percentage of screen width regardless of the screen resolution, in IE6 and FX ?

You just give it a percentage width. Given the width in percentage, it will always be the percentage of the width of the parent container. If the parent container has no definite width, it will revert to being 100% of the viewport (browser window). Or are you trying to find out something else?

That will certainly work, but giving an image a percentage width may distort it to be nearly unrecognizable.

What are you really trying to accomplish here?
