I have heard the term "Business Object" used relative to PeopleSoft and cannot find any definition of the term outside their CRM application. The context in which it was used implied that it meant the same thing as a component. Can someone clarify this? Were components once known as Business Objects?

business object is quite a common term. but there is software which can be used together with peoplesoft as i understand it correct.

There is Workflow Business Objects which contains Business process, Activity, Steps. I'm not sure u r mentioning this no where I find Business Object in Peoplesoft.
Ziggetty has mentioned BusinessObjects which is a Business Intelegence (BI)or OLAP tool basically used for reporting and Analysis purpose.
