I have a Compaq Proliant 1850r with dual P2 500 cpus. I would like to upgrade to P3 but I am not exactly sure if I am able. I see some mention on the web that I can but not sure. If I went over 500mhz I am not sure how I would set the jumpers for 550 or 600 since there arents configurations for these settings. Also there arent seting for p2 vs p3. Will the bios or linuz automaticaly determien settings?
Also do I need the ppm(power profile module) that is matched to the p3? I have no how these things work.
Are they matched to a specific chip speed?

I can get a pair of p3s off ebay for like $10 so I figure it might be worth a try. To get a set of p3s with the ppm things it is like $50
