I have two computers in my office which are both running WIN98 SE. Both machines have 3com 3c905-tx NIC's. I'm using a 5 port hub. I'm using TCP/IP with 192.168.1.XXX as the IP address and using Netboui. When I go in the network Neighborhood I can see both machines. I have a mapped drive on on of the machines which workes fine. The problem i'm having is when I go in the network neighborhood and click on the other machine, which I can see, it takes several minutes for it to show the contents of that connection. Can anyone explain why it takes so long for it to pull up the contents of that connection?

thanks ,

Remove Netbeui. When that protocol is loaded then name resolution tends not to work well. Think loading this protocol disables NETBIOS over TCPIP. I also think that TCPIP has a higher pirority meaning that the OS tries to communicate with the other machine first w/ this protocol. Since NETBIOS is disabled on TCPIP with Netbeui loaded it takes a couple of minutes to time out before trying the next protocol. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my knowledge.
