I have a BCM 400 upgraded to 4.0 with the standard 2 PEC III

When might i need to go to 3 or 4 PEC IIIs? My setup is about 62 IP phones 8 IP trunks, a PRI and an ASM 8. It is about 4 1/2 years old and no hardware has been replaced. Should I start to worry about the hardware and purchase a 450, or upgrade PEC IIIs or neither?

If you're on a 400 on release 4 software, you're supported. No issues there. You didn't mention if you're using a 2/6 or 3/5 DS30 split. That, coupled with the number of active voicemail ports and the codec selection for the phones and trunks would determine the max capacity of your system.

On a 400, I figure somewhere around 85 IP sets is the maximum if you're using voicemail, as there are 90 signalling channels available in the system. Each IP set and each voicemail port use 1 signalling channel each.

What if you are upgrading from BCM 1000 rls 1 to rls 3.7 what pec cards would I need?

Using a 3/5 split. Not a big AA user, just voicemail. So is 90 signaling channels max on a 400 or just using 2 PEC IIIs?
IP set codec is 729, active voicemail ports is 6, for now.

If u don't currently have any issues, u'll want to add 2 more PECs if u add additional users or applications.

Dasheen...
Do you care to elaborate? I do not have any issues as of yet, I think.
Yesterday after adding an IP phone, maybe just coincidental but, all IP phones lost their connection then came up then went down. I checked the BCM lights and the status light was off. I had to reboot to return to normal operation. Everything has been good so far.
So am I maxing this thing out with 2 PEC III cards or am I ok until 90 IP phones?
