I have an older version of Peach Tree Accounting. I am trying to connect to the database to create a Crystal Report. I know that the database is a Btrieve database. Can anyone suggest a way for me to conncect to the database? Is ODBC an option? What type of driver would I need for the ODBC?

Thank you,
Chip

If you're using Btrieve 6.15, there was an ODBC driver but it's going to be difficult to find it now (Btrieve is currently at V9 and the ODBC drivers are version specific).
Within Crystal, you should be able to pick "Btrieve" as the driver and access the data directly as long as you've got DDFs.

You do not need ODBC, you can connect directly to the ddfs. In fact this is how the crystal reports that ship with Peachtree are written.

WHen you write a new report, click on database, find database file, and browse to the company directory in question. Click on file.ddf and the files exposed to the .ddfs - one of Peachtree's big weaknesses is that not al files are listed - will be there for you. Start writing the report you want, provided that the files are exposed to the .ddfs.

Yes. Standard btrieve .ddfs, but Peachtree has hidden a lot of the fields from the .ddfs so crystal is more limited.

I've used DDE with Visual FoxPro. Same problem. Looking for a way to use ADO with Peachtree. I can read OK but I'd like to be able to write to the files.

I'm lucky because I have a copy of the DDE guide Peachtree used to publish.

Bill,

I'd love to get a copy of that DDE Guide. Please visit my website to email me.
