We have been using Peachtree Complete Accounting since 1995. We haven't upgraded in a long time: we are still on version 7. But Peachtree has cut off tech support for older versions, and I think we may have lost a year's worth of data.

Problem started yesterday, suddenly kept getting error messages related to "Journal.dat" files while performing everyday tasks. We tried the integrity check, the fix company, but it couldn't fix the problems.

We can no longer open our company, only receiving the error message: "Cannot free memory block in DeleteHANDLE". Please tell me if there is anything we can do.

We could have used a backup to restore the company, unfortunately we thought the system was doing an auto-backup, but found that the last successful backup was done a year ago. (Stupid, I know.)

We desperately need this 12 months of information back, is there any way to retrieve any of it?

First, fire whoever is in charge of your system/backups. Hopefully that is not you.

Secondly, go to peachtreeusers.com. There is a company there that advertises on a banner the ability to recover corrupted data.

Other than that I have no clue.

Good Luck.

First, I can't fire the person in charge of backups: it's my boss. If I was in charge of backups we may have lost one day of data, but that'd be it.

Second, thank you for the referral to peachtreeusers.com, I have made an appt with them. I had no idea they were there, they have an 85% success rate that they guarantee or you don't pay.

This sounds absolutely wonderful to someone who had no hope of ever getting this data back. Thank you very much for your help.
