I used this helpful forum in the past. The original thread has the id
thread641-596944

I had my peachtree 2005 working flawlessly for over a year then all of the sudden I get the same error as before.

Currently another user has peachtree open on this sytem.

I have the registry key in place on the hkeylocal/software
/%userprofile/PT/

But now its not working. I have tried everything and anything. Has anybody else had this problem? Mabye it was an automatic software update?
Any input would be GREATLY appeciated.
Thanks
Robert

Rob, I just had the exact same problem. PT 2005 working find and then poof last night after a auto update. Not working for more than 1 person. Did you find anything?

no bro.. I tried everything and anything with that. What I finnally did was ditch the win2000 server and install windows 2003 server and changed the registry key and viola works like a charm again. I think you are right its some update that they send down to screw with it.. good luck with your problem.

Probably not related, but I had Peachtree 2005
installed, and then ALSO installed Peachtree
2007 on the same computer.

If you do not know, Peachtree 2007 runs a Pervasive
dbengine on the client. When active, the client
icon sits next to the status bar clock (bottom right
of screen).

If I tried to start Peachtree 2005 when the Peachtree
2007 Pervasive engine was active (running), I got
the same message you describe.

If I shut the database engine off, I no longer got
the message.
