Peachtree 2004 Maintenance?

Does my client need to do routine maintenance to thier data? ...Such as re-indexing? compacting?

Recently they had problems with the error "Unable to determine security privileges", and had to restore the data from a backup. Was this preventable with maintenance? As far as I know they haven't done any maintenance in PT since they created the company several years ago.

There are several maintenance routines available in Peachtree. Generally, a new company should be created every year.
