My PowerEdge 2600 won't recognize the two SCSI 73GB disks. I was able to setup a Logical Drive for the 6x36GB in a Raid-5 configuration and put WS2003 on it. The server was up.

I ran Dell Diagnostics bootable CD, no mentioning of the two 73GB disks, the other 6x36GB disks were all PASS. When I ran LSI configuration utility with <CTRL-M>, CH-0 was empty and CH-1 had 6 drives listed.

I guess I would need to test the two 73GB SCSI disks. As fas as I can tell, there was no noise from the drive bay and the front green lights were lit.

6 1X343 Hard Drive, 36GB, S, U320..., 15K, 80P, Seagate
2 1M931 Hard Drive, 73G, S, U320..., 10K, 80, 1inch, Maxtor
Thanks

07/26 I updated the PERC 4/DI LSI SCSI-RAID firmware from 250D to 252D. Still the same problem.

07/27 To test the two SCSI 73GB drivers, I took them out from CH-0 of LSI and put them in CH-1 slots. So, my server had only the two drives. They worked and were recognized by LSI in a RAID-1 configuration. So my next step would be checking the CH-0 on LSI.

Odd, reseat the channel 0 connectors,backplane/adapter sides . Bad slots on channel 0, unlikely. Bad cable, but unlikely. Possible bent pin, HD pins bend real easy, bent a couple until I sprayed connectors with Teflon spray.
