Hey all,

I have to come up with targets for my PDP. As a web developer working mainly on internal Intranet sites, i dont really want them to be project based, if you dont know waht the projectsare going to be how can you ake challenging targets out of them?

Any one had this experience and would like to comment?

Yeah, been just there. My company is very keen on Personal Development Plans and Performance Management.

A PDP can be (as mine is) based around -
These are my strengths
These are technical areas I can improve on
These are people-skills areas I can improve on

Then with your manager work out what action to take to achieve improvements required, and set objectives.

E.g. to improve DB skills, 1) attend course of some sort 2) design database for next project (with input from DB team as appropriate). Measure - DB needs no more than 10% rework against original requirements.

Performance Management is where we had difficulties as a project -based teams setting targets. We ended up defining a list of "IS Values" and setting objectives against that. The values were things like "Innovative" "Customer Focussed".

Hope that helps!

Cheers for that.

its mainly my own doing that means changes are required. As last year my targets were successful implementation of sites that the user requirements changed and in 1 case they cancelled the job. So I am just looking for ways that are not project dependant.
