I have an Excel spreadsheet that lists all of our company's document numbers. Each document number is a hyperlink to the respective PDF files stored on a file server in the company. The users typically click on one of these documents to view things such as company SOPs and such.

I've recently deployed Acrobat Reader v7 and Acrobat Pro v7 to two users. Both have a problem where when they click on a link in the Excel spreadsheet, the PDF opens briefly and then immiedately closes. When I reverted the user with the Reader software back down to version 6, the problem disappeared. The trouble is, I can't revert my Acrobat Pro v7 user down to v6.

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem. I tried to reinstall AR602 and the links worked again. After reapplying AR7.0 the problem came back. Is this a bug in AR, and is adobe doing something about it? Anybody ideas?

Thanks
Wim

It's a bug in Adobe Acrobat, both reader and the pro version. I called them and they know about it, but don't have a fix available.

OK,
thanks for the information. Guess we'll have to wait till it's fixed or somebody finds a workaround.

Kind Regards
Wim

Sorry about that. I forgot to mention there is a semi-quasi workaround. It requires Acrobat to be open first. If it's open before the link is clicked, then the user can switch over to Acrobat and press Alt-Left Arrow to view the document. Unfortunately, I don't know of very many users that open Acrobat before they need it.
