An Italian speaking user has encountered this problem. I don't have a suitable test bed to check out this problem so has anyone seen this message before?
User System: WinXP Pro SP1, Office 2003, Acrobat Pro 6.0.1.
The user reports that even uninstalling Acrobat still leaves WORD 2003 complaining about the PDFMaker.dot file in Office 11/Startup causing instability. Even after a complete unistall of Acrobat, and Office and complete resinstall this message persists and the only way out is the disable PDFMaker.dot which the user needs for creating PDFs from Word with links.
I have tracked down a similar incidents with PDFMaker.dot Version 4 and Office XP but the suggested fix (see below) apparently cannot be applied to Word 2003.
FIX for PDFMaker4 and Office XP:
For ENABLING Adobe Maker smart tag in Office XP:
1. open Office XP
2. go to HELP
3. click on ABOUT MICROSOFT OFFICE
4. click DISABLED ITEMS
5. you should be able to ENABLE ADOBE SMART TAG (under pdfmaker.dot)
Any guidance or pointers most welcome
Cheers
Ian
